Gerbils are fascinated by everything that is new and different. This includes food. For this reason, you and your gerbil may both enjoy the experience of a treat every now and again.
Pet stores carry tons of different kinds of treats for gerbils, but you should be careful what you buy, and how often you feed them to your pet. Gerbil treats are just that, treats. They should not be your gerbil’s primary food source and your gerbil should not get so many treats that s/he doesn’t eat enough of his or her regular food—where the true nutrition is.
Healthy gerbil treats often consist of seeds or pellets in amusing or different shapes. Even the same thing in a different shape or combination can be a treat for those ever-curious gerbils.
